Refurbishment and extension of the Las Viñas care home in Madrigueras. Clean white volumes, more daylight in the common areas and a roof ready to generate energy. Design and site management by Ingeteo.
The care home started from a building with an ochre façade and a dated layout. The project keeps what could be reused, extends the usable area and unifies the whole under a single image: white volumes, well-proportioned openings and a porch that organises the arrival.
The new envelope, with a white finish and careful jointing, protects the interior better and gives the building a calm presence on the street. The colonnaded porch provides shade for coming and going at the residents’ own pace.
The roof keeps its ceramic tiles, in keeping with the village, and adds photovoltaic panels that cut the consumption of a building that runs every day of the year.
Terraces, courtyards and common areas are redesigned to gain daylight and make daily life easier: clear, accessible, barrier-free routes in a building where comfort is a necessity, not an extra.
